Hello,
I run a small web design studio from my home office, most of my work is done remotely or I visit my clients – but now and again they visit me in my home. Currently I have the usual buildings and contents insurance – but do I need to check if i’m covered just in case someone has an accident while on my property?

Hello Gary,
You are certainly right to query your cover and ask for advice in this area.
Unless specifically agreed in advance, your household insurance will not usually cover any loss of office or portable computer equipment and neither will it provide public liability or professional indemnity cover.
We will certainly look at writing an article to help home workers be more aware of what they may need. In the meantime feel free to telephone us on 01243 841710 if you would like more immediate help.
